Canadiens’ Subban teams up with Ray Bourque for charity

VICE Sports followed PK Subban for a weekend and had exclusive behind-the-scenes access leading up to his announcing a $10-million donation to the Montreal Children’s Hospital.

The 2016 Winter Classic between the Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins is set for New Year’s Day at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

In a show of sportsmanship, Canadiens defenceman P.K. Subban has set aside his club’s rivalry with the Bruins in the name of charity.

Subban has teamed up with Bruins legend Ray Bourque for “Ray and P.K’s Ultimate Winter Classic Raffle.” Up for grabs are four tickets to the 2016 Winter Classic, roundtrip airfare, accommodations, signed jerseys, and a chance to meet Subban and Bourque at Gillette Stadium.

Raffle tickets range from $2 each to $0.15 each depending on the quantity purchased. Sales will benefit The Celebrities for Charity Foundation and the P.K. Subban Foundation.

Subban made headlines in September when he made “the biggest philanthropic commitment by a sports figure in Canadian history” when he donated $10 million to Montreal Children’s Hospital to open the Atrium P.K. Subban.
