VANCOUVER — The Canucks traded forward Ryan Shannon to the Ottawa Senators for defenseman Lawrence Nycholat on Tuesday.
Shannon, a member of the Stanley Cup champion Anaheim Ducks in 2007, was traded to Vancouver later that summer and spent most of last season dealing with knee injuries. The speedy five-foot-nine forward finished with five goals and 13 points in 27 games for the Canucks and has 24 points in 80 career NHL games.
The 29-year-old Nycholat spent most of last season in the AHL. He had 12 goals and 49 points in 77 games for the Binghamton Senators and has played in 31 career NHL games with Ottawa, the Washington Capitals and New York Rangers over eight seasons, recording eight points.
