Defenceman Alexander Edler was injured after blocking a shot in the first period in the game between the Vancouver Canucks and Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night.
The play in question happened midway through the first when Carl Soderberg fired a wrist shot just outside the face off circle in Vancouver’s zone. The puck appeared to hit Edler in his waist area and he was holding the top of his left thigh for the rest of the shift.
He left the game after the play and will not return.
In 20 games this season, Edler has one goal and two assists.
