Canucks’ Granlund leaves game vs. Lightning with ankle injury

Markus Granlund would leave the game after falling and getting his leg caught underneath him behind the net.

Vancouver Canucks forward Markus Granlund suffered an ankle injury in Thursday’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning and will not return.

Granlund was battling for the puck behind the Lightning net with Lightning forward Ryan Callahan when his feet got taken out from under him. Granlund was unable to put any weight on his left leg and had to be helped to the bench by teammates. You can watch a video of the play at the top of this page.

Granlund missed one game in November with an undisclosed upper-body injury. In 52 games this season he has eight goals and 12 points.
