How Canucks can clinch a playoff berth on Saturday

After sitting on the sidelines for the Stanley Cup playoffs last season, the Vancouver Canucks are on the verge of punching their ticket back to the post-season.

Here’s a look at how the Canucks can secure a playoff spot on Saturday night, along with other clinching scenarios across the NHL:

Vancouver Canucks

  • The Canucks would clinch a playoff berth if they defeat the Jets in regulation, coupled with a Flames loss or a Kings regulation loss.
  • The Canucks would clinch a playoff berth if they defeat the Jets in overtime, coupled with a Flames loss or a Kings regulation loss.
  • The Canucks would clinch a playoff berth if they defeat the Jets in a shootout and both the Flames and Kings lose in regulation.
  • The Canucks cannot clinch a playoff berth Saturday if they lose in any fashion.
  • Washington Capitals

  • The Capitals would clinch a playoff berth with a regulation win against the Senators.
  • New York Islanders

  • The Islanders would clinch a playoff berth with if they beat the Sabres and the Senators lose in regulation.

    Minnesota Wild

  • The Wild would clinch a playoff berth with a win against the Red Wings coupled with any of the following results:
  • – The Flames lose in regulation
    – The Flames lose in overtime or shootout and either the Jets or Kings lose in regulation
    – Both the Jets and Kings lose in regulation

  • The Wild would clinch a playoff berth if they defeat the Red Wings in a shootout and any of the following occurs:
  • – The Flames lose and either the Jets or Kings lose in regulation
    – Both the Jets and Kings lose in regulation

  • The Wild cannot clinch a playoff berth Saturday if they lose in any fashion.
