Canucks recall Alexandre Grenier from AHL’s Utica Comets

The Vancouver Canucks rallied around Jake Virtanen on Sunday, defending the young rookie after his less-than-impressive showing at the World Juniors tournament that has him taking some heat.

The Vancouver Canucks have recalled forward Alexandre Grenier from the Utica Comets of the AHL, the club announced Monday.

Grenier is the second highest scorer on the Comets this year, having put up 19 points (6G, 13A), in 33 games.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Grenier was drafted by the Canucks in the third round of the 2011 draft.

He made his NHL debut against the Winnipeg Jets on Nov. 18.

The Canucks host the Arizona Coyotes Monday night.
