Canucks sign Higgins to 4-year extension

Higgins, 29, has registered 14 points (9-5-14) and 10 penalty minutes in 35 games with the Canucks this season.

The Vancouver Canucks have signed forward Chris Higgins to a four-year, $10-million extension, the team announced Tuesday.

According to Hockey Central insider Nick Kypreos, the deal also comes with a limited no-trade clause.

Higgins has nine goal and 14 points in 35 games with the Canucks this season. The 29-year-old is in the final year of a two-year contract that carries an annual average value of $1.9 million.

Vancouver acquired Higgins from the Florida Panthers at the trade deadline in February 2011.
