Canucks Sports and Entertainment names Jeff Stipec as COO

Canucks GM Jim Benning explains why he traded Jared McCann for Erik Gudbranson, saying it was very tough to do, but whenever you have a chance to land a top four defenceman, you do it.

VANCOUVER — Canucks Sports and Entertainment announced Friday that Jeff Stipec has been named the company’s new chief operating officer.

Stipec previously held the role of vice-president, hospitality and event operations for two years with CSE, which operates the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks and Rogers Arena.

"Jeff is a tremendous person who displays outstanding leadership qualities and energy to our fans, partners and employees," Victor de Bonis, COO of the Aquilini Group, said in a release.

CSE said Stipec, who previously held senior positions with Intrawest, Cara and The Stronach Group, will be in charge of the company’s leadership team responsible for "all areas of the sports and entertainment business in the strategic and operational direction of the company."
