Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson was fined on Friday for kneeing Pittsburgh Penguins left winger Conor Sheary during Game 1 of their second round playoff series.

Wilson’s fine was worth $2,403.67 — the maximum allowable under the NHL’s collective bargaining agreement.

Wilson connected with Sheary knee-on-knee during the third period on Thursday. There was no penalty on the play.

Sheary stayed in the game but wasn’t at Pittsburgh’s practice on Friday.

The Capitals won the game 4-3 in overtime. Game 2 is on Saturday night in Washington.
