Carey Price donates equipment to Williams Lake Minor Hockey

Watch the inspiring story of how Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price is being a role model to First Nations youth, particularly in his hometown of Anahim Lake, B.C.

If there’s little room to maneuver in the offices at the Williams Lake Minor Hockey Association, no one is complaining.

The central interior British Columbia town’s minor hockey program received “thousands upon thousands,” of dollars worth of hockey equipment from Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price this week, the Williams Lake Tribune reports.

Price, his father Jerry Price, and hockey equipment manufacturer CCM teamed up to provide new gear and sticks to the community’s Williams Lake KidSport chapter, the Boys and Girls Club of Williams Lake and District and Williams Lake Big Brothers Big Sisters. Additional gear was also donated for kids in the Tsilhqot’in Nation, Northern Shuswap Tribal Council, and the Cariboo Chilcotin Tribal Council.

“I’m very humbled Jerry and Carey and CCM still think of Williams Lake Minor Hockey,” WLMHA house league coordinator Todd Isnardy to the Williams Lake Tribune.

The gear arrived packed in boxes, which have filled Pam Povelofskie’s office from floor to ceiling.

“It’s a good mess,” Povelofskie, a WLMHA administrator said. “I love it.”
