Don Cherry has voiced his opinion on what Mike Babcock should do with regards to his future behind an NHL bench.
Cherry has intimated that Babcock should forgo any opportunities that involve a team currently mired in a rebuilding process and either remain in Detroit with the Red Wings or pursue the San Jose Sharks’ vacancy.
The former coach took to Twitter to offer Babcock some further advice, leaning on his own experience with the Colorado Rockies in 1979-80, in an epic Twitter rant.
That Swedish goaltender is none other than Hardy Åström, an oft-maligned target of Cherry’s over the years.
Åström finished the 1979-80 season, Cherry’s only year with the Rockies, with a 9-27-6 record and a 3.75 goals-against average.
Babcock was reportedly spotted in Buffalo last weekend, and has also reportedly met with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Sabres and Maple Leafs are most certainly locked into the rebuilding phase heading into the off-season.
