Clarkson to make Blue Jackets debut on top line

David Clarkson has gone from a fourth-line forward with the Toronto Maple Leafs to a first-line player with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Two days after being traded from Toronto to the Blue Jackets, Clarkson will play alongside Ryan Johansen and Nick Foligno when Columbus hosts the New Jersey Devils Saturday afternoon.

Clarkson was traded on Thursday night from the Maple Leafs for currently injured Nathan Horton. The 30-year-old struggled in Toronto, where he signed a seven-year contract worth $36.75-million in 2013.

Foligno and Johansen are the top two scorers for the Blue Jackets this season. Foligno leads the team with 55 points, while Johansen is two points behind at 53.

In other Columbus news, forward Brandon Dubinsky is out indefinitely after suffering a concussion in the Blue Jackets 5-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens Thursday night.
