Colorado Avalanche re-sign Matt Nieto to one-year deal

The Colorado Avalanche have signed Matt Nieto to a one-year deal for the 2017-18 season.

The five-foot-11, 190-pound forward was claimed off waivers by the Avalanche in January. Nieto appeared in 43 games for Colorado, posting seven goals and 11 points.

“Matt brought speed and offensive depth to our team in the second half of last season,” said Avalanche Executive Vice President/General Manager Joe Sakic in a press release. “He brings energy to our lineup, and we look forward to having him under contract for 2017-18.”

Nieto, 24, will enter his sixth NHL season this fall.
