It was a tough scene Tuesday night at the TD Garden after Arizona Coyotes forward Alex Burmistrov was taken off on a stretcher following a hard open-ice hit from Boston Bruins defenceman Kevan Miller.
Burmistrov took an outlet pass from Jakob Chychrun in the Coyotes’ zone four minutes into the second period and Miller timed a hit just inside the blue line. A melee ensued.
Miller received a charging major and a game misconduct, while Chychrun was assessed two minutes for roughing after jumping on Miller following the hit.
There was no immediate indication of how serious Burmistrov’s injury might be, however the 25-year-old was taken to a local hospital as a precaution. The Russian managed to give the thumbs up as he was stretchered off.
Burmistrov was eventually released from the hospital to rejoin his team but not before he sent a snapchat to his fans letting them know he was okay.
