Detroit Red Wings defenceman Danny DeKeyser is day-to-day with a bruised knee after blocking a shot in Wednesday night’s win over the Ottawa Senators, head coach Jeff Blashill told reporters after the game.
The 25-year-old got in front of a Dion Phaneuf slap shot early in the third period with the Senators on the power play. The puck appeared to hit DeKeyser’s right knee, sending the him to the ice.
Dekeyser, who scored the opening goal of the game, had to be helped off the ice.
The Red Wings are already without defencemen Niklas Kronwall and Mike Green, though the injury to DeKeyser seems unlikely to keep him out long-term.
Detroit’s next game is Friday against the Colorado Avalanche.
