Dennis Wideman will be in lineup for Flames Friday

Dennis Wideman spoke to the media ahead of his appeal decision coming down, saying he’s staying positive despite the frustration of not playing.

Calgary Flames defenceman Dennis Wideman will be in the lineup against the Arizona Coyotes Friday night, as confirmed by team president Brian Burke during his press conference Friday.

It will be his first game action since Jan. 27.

An independent arbitrator ruled Friday that Wideman’s 20-game suspension for hitting linesman Don Henderson will be reduced to 10 games. Wideman, who has since sat out 19 games, will receive $282,258.06 in lost pay for the nine extra games he missed.

In 48 games this season, Wideman has two goals and 19 points.
