It’s a good thing Joseph Blandisi is a hockey player, because he doesn’t have much of a future in diving.
The New Jersey Devils forward picked up a two-minute minor penalty Tuesday night for embellishment when he tried to sell a seemingly harmless slash from Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Andrew MacDonald.
Blandisi owned his mistake following the Devils’ 6-3 loss.
“I never got swung at like that before, but I guess I could’ve done something to avoid that penalty,” Blandisi told reporters.
“I guess maybe I wanted to make sure the ref saw it and I took it too far,” the 21-year-old added.
Blandisi has four goals and 11 points in 19 games since being called up by the Devils in December.
