Ritchies auction house has apologized to Don Cherry for erroneously promoting a mansion as having belonged to the Hockey Night in Canada icon.
The auctioneers said in a statement Tuesday afternoon that the “trusted” owner had told them Cherry previously owned the Mississauga, Ont., home.
Cherry denied he ever lived in the house earlier Tuesday:
The sprawling Mississauga mansion is set to hit the auction block on Aug. 17 and is expected to sell for approximately $8 million.
The 10,500-square-foot home, being handled by realtor Sam McDadi, features a modest 12 bathrooms, a swimming pool, a tennis court, a four-car garage, five bedrooms and nine fireplaces.
