Ducks’ Cam Fowler expected to miss at least 4-6 weeks with injury

The Hockey Night in Canada panel discuss the Montreal Canadiens not willing to make a "panic" trade, give an update on Matt Duchene, Brian Boyle, and Cam Fowler and more.

The Anaheim Ducks got some bad news this weekend, as Cam Fowler suffered a suspected knee injury during Friday’s win over the Montreal Canadiens.

Exactly how bad that news might be is still up for debate.

According to Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos, the team is “still waiting to see whether or not he could avoid surgery.”

“You look at how this team has been hit by the injury bug, to see this guy go down the other night makes a lot of us cringe,” Kypreos said. “At the very least, they’re talking about maybe four to six weeks.”

Fowler fell awkwardly into the boards during the first period of Friday’s game and needed to be helped off the ice. The 25-year-old has a goal and an assist so far this season.

The Ducks are currently dealing with a laundry list of injuries to some of their most important players, including Ryan Getzlaf, Ryan Kesler, Hampus Lindholm, Patrick Eaves and Sami Vatanen.
