Ducks’ Souray to have season-ending surgery

Anaheim Ducks defenceman Sheldon Souray will have season-ending wrist surgery on Friday, sources tell Sportsnet’s Mark Spector.

Souray hasn’t played since last season, during which he tallied seven goals and 10 assists in 44 games with the Ducks.

The 37-year-old defenceman was hurt while working out off the ice on July 17. He underwent surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist on July 25.

Over 13 seasons in the NHL, Souray has also played for the New Jersey Devils, Montreal Canadiens, Edmonton Oilers, Dallas Stars.

The Ducks currently lead the NHL with 77 points, six points more than the second-place Chicago Blackhawks.
