Hockey’s most cherished video game has been flourishing in the shadows for years, but in celebration of its 20th anniversary, the title will make its triumphant mainstream return in NHL 14‘s “Anniversary Mode.”
It’s a smart nod to a classic release, memorable for its lenient offsides, fondness for one-timers, and a superhuman Jeremy Roenick.
EA released this Powerthirst-inspired teaser for the sub-game packaged within NHL 14, which hits North American shelves on Sept. 10. Turns out the Martin Brodeur cover choice isn’t the only thing retro about this year’s edition.
