Erik Karlsson skates for first time since foot surgery

Ottawa Senators captain Erik Karlsson attends practice and runs some drills despite trying to get back to health after off-season surgery on his foot.

The Ottawa Senators received a boost on Saturday, as Erik Karlsson participated in the team’s morning skate as he recovers from a foot injury.

It’s Karlsson first time on the ice since he underwent surgery in June to repair tendons in his left foot.

Karlsson and the Senators stated in the summer that they would not be able to provide a proper timeline for his return until he skated. Karlsson did say earlier this month on Tim and Sid that he is hoping to return sometime on October.

Ottawa opens the regular season on Oct. 5 against the Washington Capitals.
