EuroVision: Highlights, notes, tweets and photos from across the pond – where the lockout doesn’t quite translate
Just the tip.
That’s all Sergei Kostitsyn needed to score a sure-handed overtime winner 39 seconds into the bonus frame, giving his Avangard Omsk team a road victory at Atlant, after the Moscow Region club forced overtime in the final minute. The Belarusian not only knocked down a waist-high puck at full speed with a defender on his tail, he also added an assist. Kostitsyn now has three points in just two KHL games.
Here are the complete game highlights. Feel free to fast-forward to the last 40 seconds.
Gabriel Landeskog made his debut with Djurgarden of Hockeyallsvenskan Wednesday. The Colorado Avalanche captain scored a goal and had an assist. Even though Landeskog missed two shootout attempts, his team came out on top.
Great energy and physical play by Gabriel Landeskog in the first period. Hit the pipe and drew a penalty. #avs

Alex Semin’s visit with Grandma is nearing its end. Reports out of Russia say that the Washington Capitals sniper’s time playing for his hometown of Krasnoyarsk is almost up. Semin has been playing for pennies in the VHL, which is to the KHL what the AHL is to the NHL, but it may be time for him to graduate:
Alex Semin will not be playing in today’s VHL game due to illness. Will likely leave for KHL soon. #Caps #Canes

New York Islander Rick DiPietro is off to Germany’s second-tier league to tend the pipes of SC Riessersee. The club referred to the oft-injured goaltender as no less than a “legend” in its press release. It’s all relative, people.
DiPietro, who played only eight games last season, is expected to debut Sunday against Landshut Cannibals. The St. Louis Blues’ Matt D’Agostini is also a member of Riessersee.
The exodus continues.
Some notables: New York Ranger Ryan McDonagh inked up with the KHL’s Barys, teaming up with NHLers Victor Hedman (Lighting) and Nik Antropov (Jets), the team announced Thursday.
And the Swedish Elite League lures a Blackhawk:
Pumped to get a chance to play for my hometown team Frölunda! Can’t wait to start playing games!

New York Islander Michael Grabner (Austria) tweets a Swiss treat joke the way of teammate John Tavares, who is playing for Switzerland’s Bern during the lockout. Mmmm… foreign candy:
