Oooh… mama.
Pro hockey highlights, remember them?
Well, if this clip from Friday’s KHL action won’t make you miss watching hockey, we’re not sure what will.
Nashville Predators forward Sergei Kostitsyn, now playing for Avangard, gets absolutely walloped in open ice by Barys’ Alexei Litvinenko as he tries to cross the opposition’s blue line at full speed.
Kostitsyn’s teammate stands up for the star, immediately fighting Litvinenko to the tune of 17 penalty minutes. (Side note: Love how the KHL doesn’t call them "fighting" majors but rather "fisticuffs" penalties.) Avangard got the last laugh, defeating Barys 3-2 in overtime.
Appears the already NHL-stacked HC Davos, which offers a lineup that includes Rick Nash and Joe Thornton, will be getting another North American scoring threat in Dallas Stars forward Loui Eriksson:
Looks like Switzerland is getting another NHLer soon, as Südostschweiz reports Loui Eriksson will start practicing with Davos next week. — Matias Strozyk (@MaStrozyk) November 30, 2012

A Russian youth game gets way out of hand, to the point where the penalty box looks like a clown car.
We count 14 guys on the same team in the box at once.
Watch the video (via Deadspin):
Ilya Kovalchuk is no longer the only NHLer wearing a captain’s "C" in the KHL.
Anyone else starting to get the feeling that these guys are settling right in over there?

Dynamo Moscow took hold of first place overall in the KHL with its victory over Dinamo Riga Thursday.
Yes, the K has a lot of Dynamo/Dinamos. Unconfirmed reports suggest they modeled this team naming strategy after the CFL’s Roughriders/Rough Riders brainstorm.
Here are the highlights:
Vancouver Canucks winger Jannik Hansen spoke with Sportsnet’s sister Vancouver radio station from Finland, where he’s missing the NHL but benefitting from the extra playing time:

And BritNasty would consider flying back for the proposed owners-players meeting. With one delicious caveat…
I’ll meet with the owners. Dinner. On their tab. At Mastro’s Ocean Club. I’m getting the bone in filet and 2 seafood towers for an appetizer — Paul Bissonnette (@BizNasty2point0) November 29, 2012
