They may be on opposite sides of one of the NHL’s biggest rivalries, but Evgeni Malkin still wants the best for Alex Ovechkin.
According to a tweet from Russian hockey reporter Igor Eronko, Malkin said he’s been “luckier” than the Capitals captain throughout his career and hopes his Team Russia teammate will one day hoist the Stanley Cup.
Malkin definitely knows how it feels to hoist hockey’s most coveted trophy; the 30-year-old is a three-time Cup champion with the Penguins. Of course, the road to each championship went through Washington, and Ovechkin would have to defeat the powerhouse Penguins if he were to lead his Capitals to a Cup any time soon.
