The Calgary Flames left Thursday’s victory against the Montreal Canadiens a little lighter on the blue line after two of the team’s defencemen left the game with injuries.
Dougie Hamilton left the ice late in the second period and didn’t come out for the third due to what the Flames are calling a lower body injury.
It’s not officially known what happened, though it appears Hamilton’s left leg may have been cut by the blade of a skate while battling along the boards.
Michael Stone left about five minutes into the final frame after being bumped by Habs forward Torrey Mitchell. He looked to be favouring his left shoulder. (See the clip at the top of this post.)
Both blue-liners were playing well in Calgary’s eventual 5-0 victory over Montreal, with Stone registering his first goal as a member of the Flames and adding an assist.
The Flames have now won eight straight games, tying their franchise record for consecutive victories and earning an important two points in the Pacific Division playoff race.
