Flames’ Ferland leaves game after fight, did not return

Watch as Micheal Ferland and Kevin Bieksa decide to tussle which would result in Ferland leaving the game with an injury.

Calgary Flames forward Micheal Ferland left the game with an upper-body injury and will not return after a fight with Anaheim Ducks defenceman Kevin Bieksa on Sunday night.

Ferland and Bieksa squared off right after the faceoff following Johnny Gaudreau‘s goal in the opening minutes of the game. Both players were swinging wildly and both landed big blows. Near the end of the fight, Ferland threw his helmet aside moments before receiving a big shot from Bieksa.

These two are no strangers to each other, either.

The two engaged in the rough stuff during game three of the first round of the 2015 playoffs, when Bieksa played for the Vancouver Canucks.

Ferland is off to the best start of his NHL career. In 27 games played this season he has four goals and six assists. He only registered 18 points in 71 games last season.
