Flames’ Mark Giordano ejected for high hit on Hurricanes’ Sebastian Aho

Mark Giordano lays a hit into Sebastian Aho, and Aho got the worst of it. The Hurricanes’ player looks to have injured his knee on the hit, with Giordano getting ejected after everything had settled.

Calgary Flames captain Mark Giordano was ejected from Sunday’s game for a high hit on Carolina Hurricanes forward Sebastian Aho.

Aho was cutting across the front of the Flames’ net with the puck when Giordano hit him. Hurricanes forward Justin Williams then jumped in to fight Giordano.

Aho had to be helped off the ice but his status was unclear beyond that.

Giordano was given a match penalty for a hit to the head and a five-minute major for fighting on the play. Williams was given two minutes for instigating, five minutes for fighting and a 10-minute misconduct.
