The Calgary Flames were left searching for answers again Sunday night after dropping their fourth-straight game and being shutout for the past two matchups.
The latest was a 6-0 defeat against the Vegas Golden Knights to drop their record to 10-10-3 on the season.
Flames forward Matthew Tkachuk said post-game that the feeling in the locker-room isn’t a good one.
“It’s disgusting,” he told reporters. “It’s bad, it’s bad right now. We need to change this around.”
Tkachuk said numerous times during the interview that Calgary’s current run was “getting pretty old.” The Flames are coming off a season where they had the best record in the Western Conference in 2018-10 before being bounced in the first round of the playoffs.
On Sunday, Tkachuk said his team let goaltender Cam Talbot out to dry. Talbot turned aside 31-of-37 shots in his fifth start of the season.
The 21-year-old Tkachuk leads the Flames with 10 goals and 10 assists through 23 games this season. He’s hopeful a home game on Tuesday night against last year’s first round opponent, the Colorado Avalanche, will help the team before they begin a four-game road trip.
“Something’s got to change here. We have to get back to the old us and get out of this little funk we have here because this is not fun,” he said.
“It’s not fun being down in games and it’s not fun leaving your goalie out to dry like that.”
