Flames recall Baertschi from AHL’s Heat

Baertschi has one assist with a minus-3 rating in 10 games with the Flames this season.

The Calgary Flames recalled winger Sven Baertschi from the American Hockey League on Sunday.

Baertschi will join the team for Monday’s game against the Colorado Avalanche in Denver. He was sent back to the Abbotsford Heat March 9 after struggling upon his return from a hip flexor injury that caused him to miss 11 games.

The 20-year-old had one assist with a minus-3 rating in 10 games with the Flames before rejoining Abbottsford, where he scored four goals and seven points in 10 games. Baertschi began the season in the AHL, scoring six goals and 18 points in 21 games before joining the Flames for the start of the NHL season.

Calgary selected Baertschi in the first round, 13th overall, in the 2011 NHL Draft.
