The Calgary Flames have recalled goaltender Jon Gillies from the AHL’s Stockton Heat on an emergency basis.

Gillies has played in 31 games with the Heat this season, posting 14 wins and four shutouts. He currently owns a 2.61 GAA for the year. The 24-year-old has appeared in one game for the Flames in 2017-18, allowing three goals on 12 shots in a loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Nov. 15.

Flames starter Mike Smith was injured late in Sunday’s victory over the New York Islanders. Smith was seen walking after the game and the injury may not be as severe as originally feared.

Calgary has forward placed Troy Brouwer on injured reserve retroactive to Feb. 8 in a corresponding move.
