Watch as John Carlson and Scott Laughton get tangled up and Laughton gets the worst of it.

A scary incident brought Game 4 of the Philadelphia FlyersWashington Capitals series to an abrupt halt when Scott Laughton had to be stretchered off the ice.

The incident, which occurred in the final minutes of the first period, saw Laughton crash back-first into the boards behind the Capitals’ net after a shove from Capitals defenceman John Carlson.

Laughton remained motionless on the ice, but was able to communicate with staff before being stretchered off. Laughton left the arena for a local hospital.

There was no penalty on what is widely regarded as a “hockey play that went bad.”

After the game, the Flyers updated Laughton’s situation by saying he would stay overnight at the hospital for precautionary reasons.
