Ottawa Senators defenseman Sergei Gonchar is being listed as doubtful for Tuesday’s home game against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Gonchar suffered a bruised ankle after he blocked a in the first period of Saturday’s 2-1 loss in Washington. He could play later this week, as he is officially being listed as day-to-day by head coach Paul MacLean.
Also not suiting up for Tuesday’s game against the Flyers is starting goaltender Craig Anderson. The netminder missed Monday’s practice for “personal reasons” and MacLean said that is a contributing factor for why Alex Auld will face Philadelphia. Anderson is expected to re-join the team and likely serve as Auld’s back-up on Tuesday night.
MacLean also hinted that forward Bobby Butler could be headed to the injured reserve list. Butler is suffering from a groin injury that appears to be more serious than initially thought by the club.
