Andrei Markov has signed with Ak Bars Kazan of the KHL.
The former long-time Montreal Canadiens defenceman signed a two-year contract with the club, the league announced Monday.
The Canadiens announced that Markov wouldn’t be returning to Montreal last Thursday and on that same day it was reported he was heading to the KHL on a two-year deal.
Markov, 38, was drafted by Montreal in 1998 (162nd overall) and spent his entire 16-season NHL career with the Habs, amassing 119 goals and 572 points in 990 games played.
He joins an Ak Bars team that finished third in the KHL’s Eastern Conference last season and reached the conference final of the Gagarin Cup playoffs.
