The next stop on Ray Emery‘s amazing adventure is Germany.
The veteran goaltender has signed on with Adler Mannheim for the remainder of the season, a source told Sportsnet.
Emery had been on a professional tryout agreement with the Toronto Marlies, appearing in three games while the American Hockey League team weathered a recent spate of injuries.
He started the year with the Los Angeles Kings’ AHL affiliate in Ontario, Calif.
Emery is a former fourth-round pick of the Ottawa Senators who put together a career spanning parts of 11 NHL seasons, including a 31-game stint with Philadelphia last year. He won a Stanley Cup as the backup in Chicago in 2013.
His resume also features previous international experience, having spent the 2008-09 season in the KHL with Atlant Mytischi.
Now at age 33, Emery is showing no signs of slowing down. He’s heading overseas to join Mannheim with only a handful of games left in the regular season.
