Goaltender Al Montoya added to list of injured Canadiens

Jason Zucker scored a hat trick and Devan Dubnyk made 41 saves as the Minnesota Wild beat the Montreal Canadiens 3-0.

BROSSARD, Que. — The Montreal Canadiens announced on Friday that goaltender Zachary Fucale has been recalled from the AHL’s Laval Rocket on an emergency basis.

Canadiens backup Al Montoya, who last appeared in Montreal’s 5-4 win over the Winnipeg Jets last Saturday, is joining starter Carey Price on the injured list. The team announced Montoya has an upper-body ailment.

In three starts this season, Montoya has a 2-1 record with an .863 save percentage and a 3.77 goals-against average. He participated in Canadiens practice throughout the week but was not available for Friday’s optional skate.

Defenceman Shea Weber (lower body) and centre Jonathan Drouin (upper body), who were both held out of Thursday’s 3-0 loss to the Minnesota Wild, both participated in Friday’s skate.

And Price, who hasn’t played since Nov. 2, skated for a third straight day in full equipment, fielding shots from goaltending coach Stephane Waite.

Goaltender Charlie Lindgren is 2-1 in Price’s absence, sporting a .961 save percentage and a 1.35 goals-against average. He’ll be the starter for Montreal on Saturday, when the Buffalo Sabres visit the Bell Centre.
