Gotta See It: Conacher wears Scott’s big helmet

You have to see this series of events by Sabres' Cory Conacher, which ended with the 5'8" Conacher wearing the 6'8" John Scott's helmet in the penalty box.

Universal truth No. 562: People wearing ill-fitting clothing is always hilarious.

Cory Conacher scored two goals and added one assist as the Buffalo Sabres defeated the Edmonton Oilers 3-1 Thursday night, but the must-see highlight of the game’s first star actually took place in the penalty box.

In the first period, after Conacher laid out Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Edmonton goalie Ben Scrivens took exception and jabbed an elbow at Conacher. The Sabre shoved Scrivens back, a minor scrum ensued, and Conacher was taken to the box.

Cleaning up the yard sale, the official mistakenly handed the 5-foot-8 Conacher the wrong helmet — the one belonging to his largest teammate, 6-foot-8 John Scott.

Conacher tries the massive plastic bucket on. Imagine “fat guy in a little coat” in reverse.

“He looked like a little kid with my helmet. It was funny,” Scott told the Buffalo News.

“I’m just lucky I didn’t have to play a shift with it,” Conacher said.

This is the kind of comic gold that inspired Arby’s to shell out $44,000 for Pharrell’s hat and made Darth Helmet so memorable:
