Isn’t it wonderful when your teammate does all the work for you?
Coming off a Grade A trade deadline, the young Buffalo Sabres stormed into Tampa and owned a night that should’ve belonged to the home team’s new captain, Steven Stamkos, and new acquisition, Ryan Callahan.
Instead, the visitors had all the jump — best exemplified by this Marcus Foligno setup.
Streaking at top speed into the Lightning zone, Foligno dives for the puck, swiping with one hand on his stick to an open Cody Hodgson, who makes no mistake and pots his 16th of the season.
“Marcus really made the play,” Hodgson told reporters after the 3-1 victory. “All I had to do was score on a breakaway.”
