The Nashville Predators’ original draft pick, David Legwand, committed 474 minutes’ worth of penalties during his 15 seasons in Smashville.
So, we’ll forgive him for this one.
Making his first return to Music City in enemy gear, the Ottawa Senators centre entered the home team’s penalty box after he was caught tripping former teammate Seth Jones in the second period.
Legwand shook his head and laughed as he was kicked out of the Preds’ box and into the visitors’ sin bin.
“It’s tough going to one for 15 years, and then you’ve got to go to the other one,” Legwand told reporters after the game. “It’s over and done with. I’m happy that it’s over and done with and I move forward.”
Preds fans welcomed Legwand with a warm return. The franchise leader in games played, goals, assists and points was showered with a standing ovation when a video honouring his career played on the Jumbotron during the first period.
