As is the case with most NHL teams, the Los Angeles Kings warm-up in the bowels of the arena before game time by kicking around a soccer ball. (We’d love to believe elite soccer players get psyched for the match by playing shinny, although we highly doubt it.)
The champs’ friendly pass circle prior to Sunday night’s victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets started off business as usual.
Until…
Reminds me of Grade 6 gym, when our teacher demonstrated how not to bump a volleyball. Clasping his hands together, he slammed the sphere upward 80 feet. Problem was, the gym roof maxed out at 35 feet. The ball dislodged the overhead fluorescent light and it came crashing down upon 28 frightened and delighted 11-year-olds and into St. Mary’s Elementary lore.
