Gotta See It: Good call-up, no?
Since taking that glorious cab ride from the Ricoh Coliseum to the ACC, Toronto Marlies turned Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matt Frattin has scored six points (four goals, two assists) in four games. It’s what those in the business call “earning a permanent spot in the lineup.”
But this is Frattin’s prettiest point of them all – because of the speed and the timing and the hands.
Working a tremendous give-and-go with fellow on-fire youngster Nazem Kadri (seven points in seven games) in the third period of a tied contest versus the Washington Capitals, Frattin flips a loose puck at speed, bats it back down to the ice, gives to Kadri, cuts to the net with his stick behind him to present Kadri with a target, and beats Michal Neuvirth – who was sharp on the night (just ask Phil Kessel) but couldn’t deal with the kids’ passing play.
Frattin’s marker would prove to be the winner Thursday, as the Leafs captured their first home victory of the season, 3-2. He’s now tied for the club lead in goals.
Fun fact: Frattin has scored four times on just seven shots (57 per cent shooting success). Poor Phil Kessel is 0 for 33 shots (we’ll let you do the math).
Great to get the first home win tonight at the ACC this year for #leafnation
