Leafs’ Granberg has surgery to repair Achilles

Petter Granberg will miss four months.

Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Petter Granberg will be out a minimum of four months after undergoing surgery for a torn Achilles, the team announced on Twitter Friday afternoon.

Granberg, 22, appeared in seven games for the Maple Leafs last season, registering no points and six penalty minutes.

The Swedish defenceman spent the majority of the 2014-15 campaign with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, notching one goal and 14 assists with a plus-14 rating in 53 games.

The Maple Leafs originally selected Granberg in the fourth round (116th overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft.
