NHL veteran Roman Hamrlik is not happy with the way CBA negotiations are going.
In an interview with Daily Sport in his native Czech Republic on Wednesday, Hamrlik called out NHLPA executive director Donald Fehr.
“I am disgusted,” Hamrlik is quoted in the interview, his comments translated by TV Nova Sport’s Roman Hedlicka and devoured by the hockey world in a series of tweets.
“I do not think that we will achieve a better deal,” said Hamrlik.
“We have to push Fehr to the wall to get the deal. Time is against us. We lost a quarter of the season, it is $425 million. Who will give it back to us? Mr. Fehr? There should be voting between players. Four questions – yes or no – then count it. If half of players say let’s play, then they should sign new CBA. If there is no season, he should leave and we will find someone new. Time is our enemy.”
The previous CBA expired on Sept. 15, a date that the owners and players were well aware of.
“(Gary) Bettman said somewhere that the compromise is not enough time. Why did we not start before, like in January? We had six or seven months to make it arranged, ” Hamrlik said.
“I do not believe that if we wait any longer, we will achieve a better agreement.”
Usually have respect for 1000+ game players. Naive to expect Hamrlik to lookout for the younger #theplayers. #selfish — Zack Smith (@Smit_Treat15) November 22, 2012
