Hockey documentary ‘Defector’ wins Canadian Screen Award

Hockey documentary ‘Defector’ was named the Best Sports Program or Series at a Canadian Screen Awards gala in Toronto Tuesday night.

The Sportsnet feature tells the story of Alexander Mogilny, who in 1989 became the first player from the Soviet Union to defect to the the NHL.
