The San Jose Mercury News reminds readers Owen Nolan still owns a share of the Brittania Arms, a downtown business, and, yes, revenues are down because of the lockout.

The retired onetime Sharks captain is skating this week at Sharks Ice with the usual in-town crew and we were talking about the lockout’s impact in general when he brought up the tangential damage.

“It’s not just a fan thing, it’s the little guy too,” Nolan said. “The guys, the women that work at the arena. The local restaurants, everybody gets affected. And these are paychecks that people need to go on in life.”

So business is down?

“Absolutely,” Nolan said. “We really depend on the arena. Hockey draws a lot for us. It effects everybody. It’s a big part of the community and not just our city but every city.”

And how far has business dropped?

“Let’s just say it’s down,” he responded.
