The Columbus Dispatch reports Blue Jackets’ minor-league defenseman Cody Goloubef is likely facing surgery for a broken hand after he was slashed while playing for AHL Springfield over the weekend. At this time, the expectation is that Goloubef will miss six to 10 weeks while he recovers.
In 11 games for red-hot Springfield, Goloubef had 0-3-3, 10 penalty minutes and a plus-7 rating. He made his NHL debut late last season with the Blue Jackets on March 31, a 5-2 win over St. Louis.
“He had been playing really well,” Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson said. “Really well.”
To fill Goloubef’s roster spot, defenseman Will Weber was recalled to Springfield from ECHL Evansville. Weber had no points and a minus-5 rating in eight games with the Icemen.
