Mike Modano has long supported charities that benefit children in need, according to The Dallas Morning News.
He has worked with Jonathan’s Place for years, and he also has helped out Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, Sunshine Dreams for Kids and Make-A-Wish, among others. So it was no surprise when the fomer Stars center decided to hold a fund-raiser for City House, which helps abused and neglected children in Texas.
“When you’re given the opportunity to help out, you do a lot of research and you get to see a lot of things,” Modano said. “I just have always been touched by the children’s charities. Obviously, all charities are important and you should contibute whenever you can, but I feel a personal connection when I visit certain places.”
City House was one of those places.
“Just being there, you see the good work they do, and you see the kids they touch,” he said. “So you want to help as much as possible.”
The Mike Modano Foundation will sponsor a gala fund-raiser Sept. 8.
