One game, one broken finger. The Detroit News reports that’s all it took for Red Wings forward Cory Emmerton in his first NHL lockout game with SaiPa of the SM-liiga league in Finland.
The injury reportedly will require surgery, and could keep Emmerton out two months.
“1 period 1 shot 1 blocked shot 1 broken finger, great stats,” Emmerton tweeted after the game.
Because of the lockout, Red Wings management can’t comment on the injury or players.
It’s unclear when Emmerton will return to North America.
Emmerton played in 71 games for the Red Wings last season, finishing with 10 points (six goals).
