Hurricanes activate van Riemsdyk from IR after concussion

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Carolina Hurricanes have activated defenceman Trevor van Riemsdyk from injured reserve.

General manager Ron Francis announced the move about 5 1/2 hours before Thursday night’s game at Calgary.

The 26-year-old has missed three games with a concussion suffered in his debut with the team Oct. 7 against Minnesota. He has eight goals and 23 assists in 159 career games.
