Jordan Staal isn’t going anywhere.

Responding to reports the Pittsburgh Penguins are interested in re-acquiring the centre, Hurricanes general manager Ron Francis said Monday that Staal will remain in Carolina.

“We are not moving Jordan Staal,” Francis told Chip Alexander of newsobserver.com.

Staal has 14 points in 22 games this season, his third with the Hurricanes. Staal, who has eight years and $48 million remaining on his contract, was acquired by the Hurricanes in 2012 for Brandon Sutter, Brian Dumoulin and a first-round pick.
